During the qualifying rounds, each team faces a jam-packed schedule where they play a match almost every day. At most however, the teams play for two days straight and then have a day of rest before continuing.
During the weekdays, four games per day are played, the exception being the last day before playoffs, where the final placing in each group is decided. Saturdays and Sundays you can follow six matches, which begin broadcasting as early as 5:20 am EST.
At most, two games are played simultaneously, which means you can watch almost all the games in real time. During the group games, matches will be played at 9:20 am EST and 1:20 pm EST, and 5:20 am EST for the games played on the weekends.

Schedule for the play off in the World Championship
When the playoffs start, there is more time to catch up as days of rest are scheduled both before and after the quarter-finals. Two days after the end of the group games, all four quarter-finals are played on Thursday, May 26, 2022. Here a very important step is settled, that guarantees participation in the battle for the medals.
The teams that make it all the way to the semi-finals, are guaranteed to play ten games each, since both winners and losers of these matches take part in the fight for the medals. The semi-finals during the 2022 Ice Hockey World championship will be decided on Saturday, May 28, and the next day, May 29, both the World Championship final and the bronze match are played.
Already it is clear which teams will meet in the playoffs. The winners of each group will face the teams in fourth place in the other group, while the teams in second place face the third place teams in the other group. The teams that place first and second in each group will also have the added advantage of playing their quarter-finals in the same arena where they played their group matches.
What time the games will be played is however not predetermined and we will update our game schedule for the playoffs as soon as we have this information. Usually the home-nation is given the advantage of playing their quarter-final in prime-time.

There are no qualifying matches to determine which teams get to take part in the World championship . This is instead determined based on their performance during the tournament the previous year. The 14 teams that performed best in the highest division are invited to take part, while the two best teams from the lower division receive the honor of playing with the big nation As the championships in the lower divisions were cancelled during the 2020/2021 season, no team was demoted in the 2021 World championship. Matches in the Ice Hockey World Championship
If you are Swedish, it’s natural that the Swedish games will be of the greatest interest, and it’s those that will be the main focus for all Swedes. For us true ice hockey lovers however, it is a given to watch all the world championship matches, since it’s a rare treat to see so many fine hockey-players in one place. The hockey world championship gives us a chance to see stars such as Ovechkin, Malkin and Crosby. It’s also a good opportunity to see the future of ice hockey, as the world championship is the perfect stage for new talent to display themselves. Many of the current NHL stars first showed their talents in world championship matches, and were then picked up and placed in the hallowed halls of ice hockey.
A tip to all hockey-nerds is to watch not only Sweden’s matches. Many teams are interesting to watch, regardless of where your sympathies lie. Use the ice hockey world championship as an opportunity to see players that you never otherwise watch, like players in the Russian league. Sweden does not have viewing rights to KHL, and therefore it is almost impossible to see the Russian stars, at least in a legal way. This is true for the Finnish leagues as well, which has many players worth watching, who will be looking to show their best during the world championship games.
The game-schedule for the Ice Hockey World Championship
Many supporters of the Swedish hockey-league have complained about the new game-schedule of the league. The new set-up means many teams play during the same hours, which makes it impossible to watch matches not containing your favorit team. This is not the case during the world championship however, which opens up the opportunity to spend complete days with the best sport in the world. The schedule for the world championship is set so that at least two games are played during different times each day, and, as the 2022 Ice Hockey World championship is set in Europe, the match-times are perfectly suited to us Swedes.
Often a match is played in the afternoon at 3:20 pm Swedish time, and another immediately following the first at 7:20 pm Swedish time, which means half the day is booked for the best hockey in the world, with top-notch players in each position. The weekends are even better, where there is often an additional game played in the middle of the day, which means the world championship will be rolling on the TV from 11:00 am to 10:00 pm Swedish time every weekend during the world championship . Can it get any better?
Follow the world Championship right there
Whenever Sweden plays a big championship game, the Swedes, more often than not, show up in droves, regardless of whether we are talking football, handball or ice hockey. The ice hockey world championship is no exception, and many Swedes choose to watch the Swedish team’s matches in the world championship , while enjoying the beautiful host country at the same time. Ahead of the 2019 world championship a staggering 205,000 tickets, two thirds of the total amount of tickets, were sold in a matter of weeks.
Ticket-sales for the 2022 world championship begin as early as fall, 2021, as this is an event many Swedish fans look forward to. During the 2021 world championship, an audience was allowed only during the playoffs, by which time Sweden had already lost their place in the championship. The longing to see world championship matches live on the spot is therefore stronger than ever.
